Ive discovered two pistons on the one side of my calliper are ceased, whats the best way to fix this?

remove strip down, clean and replace seals, pistons etc....


no quick fix,they seized for a reason

Well the pad is on the disc but not rubbing so i wouldnt say its fully out

blast the seized caliper with lube

chip the rest of the friction surfaces off one of the old pads.

chuck a new pad in the good side of the caliper.

Chuck an old pad still with the friction surface on infront of one of the seized pots sideways on and the pad you chipped off under the other and then get a willing helper if you have one (or run back and fourth if ya don't) to press the brake pedal while you watch for movement. When the first pot frees off clean it up and retract it and wedge a new pad in front of that too. You may need to lube it and clean it up with emery cloth and then work it back and fourth a few times until you are completely happy. Repeat the same with the second pot.

you may find that the dust shield on the seals will push out with the piston so you may need a new seal kit but play it by ear and see how things progress.

If the pistons are rusty they will be too tight to push back into the bores in the calliper. I refurbished all 4 callipers on mine. Full kits are not too dear from allmakes £12 ish per side. Calliper in vice and work the pistons out with mole grips. See Busters guide.

The pistons will generally clean back up with a bit of emery cloth. I had 2 pots on one of mine seized when I stripped my brakes a couple of weeks back. I got that in seized and working ok but opted for new calipers anyway as I thought I might as well have everything new on my front axle.
