Exactly as it says folks. The thieving scum are currently active in Sheffield. Acquaintance woke up to car and van cats gone, this morning.

Any sort of area they targeting?
Any details or nobody see anything at all??

Zaff

Unfortunately they didn't see anything. Wasn't until he started up the van and went to drive away he heard a 'god awful noise' , got out to check and realised what it was when he looked under van. He lives in a nice area , with drive facing a main(ish) road.
I'm actually considering whether to get a catcage , alarm or a stencil kit. Problem with stencil is it only leads back to veh it was stolen from, doesn't hinder the theft, whereas the other two hinder the theft.

In the days before cars were filled with electronics, the best deterant was an electric fence unit covertly connected to the body work plus a vibration detector and siren. Won me a set of wheels a jack and a wheel wrench when thieving bastards tried to nick the wheels off my van.:D

I was actually thinking of that set up for in house security(already got it at the back wall :D) , now I don't have the dog. Set it up to the door handles, anyone tries them and will get the surprise of their lives :D

So does most of my street, still didn't stop a prowler a few months ago trying every house and car door along the street. Neighbour saw him at mine because of lights, called the cops, was told we'll be there in 5 mins .......................... 30 minutes later they arrived, prowler was long gone. Excuse for taking 30mins, they had to come from main cop shop , 4 miles away!!

That was quick, took Sussex Police 2 days to attend a burglary in progress at my place. couldn't track the buggers down even though I gave them the registration number of the vehicle being used:rolleyes:

Isn't that one of the Americans main arguments for guns in the hands of law abiding people? When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

If you tell them the prowler has a gun or even better tell them you have a gun and you're going to shoot the prowler, the cops will be there VERY soon.

I have an FAC and have firearms in the house. If they enter my house, they are not exiting in the same condition but I won't be using firearms. I will be using one of the nearest things to hand that can be used in self defence. Which just may be the samurai swords I have for decoration on the wall of the bedroom :5bAngel_anim: In the heat of the moment I will probably defend myself before I call the police :D

Back to the CAT, anyone tried any of the methods mentioned above, apart from the electric fence

Obviously a Pikey gang operating in your area, at least with a P38 you can make it much harder for them to nick the cats - put the car in access mode before you leave it for the night.

In whose area? Also the thieves are more likely to be Eastern Europeans (according to stats of those caught doing this type of thing)

I usually have mine in access mode anyway, for getting dogs/shopping/garden stuff/short arsed passengers/ etc in and out but even in access mode they still have a fair bit of clearance

The best way to get Sussex Police to attend is to tell them the has been a minor road traffic accident, they will have at least 6 units there within 2 minutes:rolleyes:

If it's not pikeys then it's Romanians/Bulgarians. Put sidesteps on then it's very hard to get under the car in access mode.

Care to put a link to those stats?

Plenty of info in the public domain if you want to do a quick search, if you're that bothered. Although I suppose I should add that Chinese and African syndicates share some the blame and it is all types of metal not just CATs linked to them.
