Hi folks,

Just opened up new head gasket set (top rebuild kit) from Paddock Spares and annoyingly found that 4 of the 8 new valve guide oil seals are mssing their spring retaining ring!!

Will be calling them for replacements but this puts back the build days.

Anyone else found this in any of their kits?
Am sure that they should ALL have the spring ring and there is a recess for them on the seals that have them ommitted.

exhaust seals dont have garter springs if its a 2.5 na or td ,if you think about it oil can be sucked down inlet and blown upwards with exhaust

Makes sense James, just the ones that are already on the head all have springs, however dosent mean that they are the right ones on it.

Will carry on build, thanks for the feedback

I had the same in a 2 1/4 diesel head kit !

some do depending on who supplies kit etc , but all 2.25s and 2.5s originally had no garter spring on exhaust seals ,exhaust valve stem is also slightly larger diameter than inlet
