I have been out today in my D2 and on the way to were I was going it was perfect no bother. I had been on a clay shoot and across some muddy terrain. After I got off the mud it started to slip the car would rev but wouldn't engage properly. I would rev and it would slowly grip the best I could get out of it was 3000 revs but it would be slipping. I am not sure what it is I have been told clutch is on its way out or tranny box is fooked I haven't got a clue. In low range it was normal no slipping just engaged and roll on has anyone come across this before

not quite sure what you mean ,wheels loosing traction ? slipping clutch can be proven by holding brakes on and keeping revs high enough while letting clutch out in gear

Clutch slipping mate like in neutral revving to high like not in gear then getting grip again on whatever the clutch grip (am thick)

on the road ,high revs little forward motion ,no noise
Abit of a grinding noise like. It happened when I went the shop but on the way back it stopped and went normal. We stopped for food on the way home and that's when it came back and is now all the time

have you been wading through deep muddy water ,can you smell burnt clutch

unless you were wading through it ie submerged clutch housing it wont be that ,its possible to loose drive through other faults but clutch slip is as slip if too much power is applied in to higher gear but drive can be achieved if careful till its gone completely

i was thinking of putting a solid flywheel one in is this a decent one or should i put a dual mass one in ?

dual mass is better ,it contains the springs for damping for transmission rather than having the springs in the clutch plate ,you can fit std flywheel but usually transmission rattlle appears ,this gives better explanation
