Chaps, going to view a 2000 DSE this afternoon, from pics it has orange indicator lenses etc, rather than clear lenses like my 2000 X reg 4.6 Vogue. Just wondering if there will be any other differences to keep in mind between W and X plates? (Yes I know it's a diesel thanks

Post 99 Diesels had EGR and MAF fitted....

2000 saw revised Light Lenses and not a lot else really as the L322 was in full swing ready for launch 18months later, so they didn't make many more changes post 2000

Cheers Saint, so no engine changes at 2000, good. May be looking at becoming a two P38 family for a while. Mental or what? Depends if dealer will give reasonable trade in on the crock of ****e Vectra he sold me 6 months ago. (Leaking oil, water and still horrendous tyre noise after spending 800 quid on it last week...)

Thanks Bix, I suppose I could always swap the lenses with my Vogue if I go for it and sell the petrol later. Or possibly get and upgrade kit.

If you get an upgrade kit make sure you get one with the mascara headlight lenses. The kits that are indicators only just look cheap.

I got a full proper set of facelift lights and it just finishes the look.

Know exactly what you mean with the mascara headlight lenses. However my DSE plan has come to nothing as I've just test driven it and compared to my v8 it just doesn't feel right, had to floor the throttle even to move it from standstill and the gearbox very sticky, reluctant to shift. Heavac display all out. Engine quiet and smooth enough, EAS all working. I've never driven a diesel P38 before, but something not quite right about it.

They do have an odd pedal travel before anything happens, but will go when provoked...

Best to walk away there are plenty of them around!

They shouldn't be that bad. When I got mine it slowly got to the point where you'd stamp on the gas and nothing happened. Turned out the diff oil was tar. The gearbox should be just as silky smooth, if it is jerky then probably been run on dirty old oil or leaking oil. The HEVAC can also be a quick wallet drain. Better to take your pennies else where.
