Right that hasn't worked.... Jimmying the panel seems to be closer to pulling the airbag bit off than providing any access....
It seems to put up with my driving so must be reasonably tough....
are there no screws holding the panel on???

No.... It looks as though it should just pop off - there is a definite edge and movement to it. And from what I can see in the gap that would be the only way to get in the. Unless you can go in from under the peddles? In which case a professional not a blonde with a spatula needs to do that !
