ok then, i may be in a position to purchase a TD4 SE 5dr on an 05 plate with full dealer history upto this month, and 82k on the clock.

im very happy with my current stead, so if the deal doesn't go my way i wont be too bothered

the TD4 is up at £5k they value mine as £1300 p/x

im looking for sensible opinions

but im sure i'll get a few stupid ones

i did not regret changing my old one a 2001 td4 auto GS, and getting a 2006 TD4 hse auto, as my old one had done 173,000 and needed a few things doing ,infact i went in for a hose and came out with the new one , would i do it again , ? Yes but next time i would go round it with a nother pair of eyes , the tyres on the back were rubbish, and the inlet system needs cleaning out it was full of slimmy black unburnt fuel , and top speed is not as good as my old one 100mph is the very best

im still torn between the two, i love the look of mine, and so does the family, the TD4 aint much of a looker but its newer and less miles, but is it worth the extra £3.7k?

Difficult innit! I've seen a lovely 328 Beemer, totally immaculate, could eat dinner off very pretty engine. But, had agreed with wifey (Boss) to wait now till Summer. Tbh its best not to look - share your dilema

Let us know how you go. My issue, wifey aside, is that the seller is one of those BMW specialist and he not very interested in mine as PX.

the dealer aint interested in mine that much, they say its only worth £500

but as they currently have an offer of a min p/x of £1300. they say im getting the better deal

Obvious thing to say, but if you can afford to buy the new one, then sell the old one yourself, you should get a reasonable price - I can't do this at the moment. The doozal will always be more desirable when you sell on again in the future - dealers know bad rep of K series and they know they can beat you up. I was offered £950 for mine a few weeks back against a Disco by a specialist LR dealer but tbh my Fleabag was in better overall condition - that's when we decided to wait till Summer and since then I'm thinking of going back to a German car. Missing my Passat 20V.

Why do you want a TD4 ?
i.e given yer happy with the one you have

that td4 might have a full service history .. but with the mileage ..
could be various bits 'n bobs just on the verge of failure

besides .. if you do buy it .. you'll probably end up spending more dosh
on things like .. egr bypass .. silicone hoses .. so on and so forth ..

I'd keep what you've got and run it until it can't be brought back to life then you've got an excuse to get another. Especially if you are happy with your own right now. Like others have said there may be problems lurking with the td4.

Mind you who am I kidding, I've had 7 cars in the last 3 years :

iv done over 4000 miles in mine since i got it in early november, and its never missed a beat...i done oil and filter, and new coolant when i changed the header tank.

To me if its reliable then its definately worth more than their £500 valuation, the £1300 min px is just to tempt people in through the doors...if there is APR to pay then this £800 free money will not be so free either...just my view.
I would rather put the 'would be' finance money aside each month to keep my freelander happy should anything happen to her.
honest opinion given.
