Ive had a quick search and cant find where it says the vacuum pipes are, its a Disco 2, i cant see them but then i dont know what im looking for, anybody know where they are and can give me a description id be eternally grateful :D
 
Have look at the vacuum pump assembly there's a short length of pipe to actuator.
Location O/S inner wing.

Electronic? electronics deals only with the electrical circuit.
Or do you mean electrical as in electrical and mechanical? which vehicle cruise controls are.

If you had looked in a D2 workshop manual you would have found this.

All markets have a common cruise control system. The cruise control system, when activated, regulates vehicle speed.
The system consists of an electrical sub-system and a mechanical sub-system.
The electrical/mechanical sub-system consists of the following components:
l
Cruise control master switch (on/off switch).

l
SET+ switch.

l
RES switch.

l
Cruise control ECU.

l
Vacuum pump assembly.

l
Brake pedal switch.

l
Clutch pedal switch (manual gearbox only).

l
SLABS ECU (speed signal).

l BCU (brake pedal switch and automatic gearbox gear selector lever position signal).
 
Found, sorted, repaired, i can put me feet on the dash and relax again when on a motorway :D

Now this time I know I'm right in saying the DII TD5 cruise control DOES not work on a vacuum system like the DI does.

It's an electronic system which works between the ECM;SLABS and the BCU.

Oh Dear U have introduced a diesel into a V8 thread, They are different I know and would have stated the correct operation for a TD5 if the OPs D2 had been fitted with a diesel engine.


And why are you comparing the two systems (D1 & 2)? both are electrical mechanical therefore similar in their operation, as stated in post #4.

td5 is flyby wire theres no throttle cable ,like v8

I'm sure you ment to say unlike and thanks, but I do understand the difference between the two engines, that one has an accelerator pedal and potentiometer the other has the pedal and a cable.
The OP has a D2 V8 and therefore this is a V8 thread and hence he has the latter electrical and mechanical cruise control.

it was meant to mean like the v8 has (cable that is)but unlike might be a better way of putting it :)
 
D2 V8 is an old vacumn mechanical set up,mine works but is crap,I don't like the way the pedal goes up and down.
 
I can honesty say I have never look at my accelerator pedal when the CC is on to see what happens, not that I would whilst driving, in fact the pedal is hardly visible from my normal driving position.
