we had some subbie tree cutters from the agency....

1 of them was real bad to say the least.when we realised he wasnt keeping up we removed hi-vis and stalked the ####.
he was in a nest of bushes he had cut a hole in and was sat there revving his chainsaw smoking some weed....

There are decent subbies out there, but I also spend a lot of time putting **** right, it's not usually a lack of skill but the fact that their on a price and just smash it in and on to the next job and the blokes on the cards will tidy it up

as for agency labour you just as well not bother, your lucky if 1 out of 10 is any good, and the cost to fix what they fcuk up almost always outweighs any decent work they do

I sent one to pull in some control cables for system I was working on and when I went to check on him he'd gone down the bookies, taken a suit to be dry cleaned and was sat in the cafe across the road having a cup of tea, when I politely enquired what the fcuk he was doing he said he thought he had all day to pull in the 30m of 1.5mm cable

I told him to go home and later got a phone call from the agency saying The firm still had to pay for his time as I was asking too much and being unreasonable , a swift fcuk off sorted that:mad2::mad2:

Nice to see someone who takes pride in their work. So many people just do not care, or even have a good knowledge of what they are doing. I have seen some shocking work down these parts. Funny thing is most people laugh about it, saying thats proper Cornish that is..!

I have used subbies for years and had the same problem. I own a small electrical contractors where reputation is paramount. Ours is a very local neighbourhood and if you did one bad job word would spread like wildfire. So, I lean on my subbies more than ever now as in the past I have done the same thing - gone out at my / company's expense to put their work right. Trouble is, a lot of 'snagging' appears after the subbies have been paid.

I just pay special attention to their work now and use guys who I know and trust!
