If your having your sills cut out why don't you just have them replaced with box section? Loads cheaper than buying rock sliders and do the same thing!

True, that was the plan but I have lifted the disco and the mrs can't get in without the current side steps so when they go she needs a step up :hysterically_laughi

pete will cut out sills and replace with box section,the sliders are then welded to them

loads better than one size fits all of the shelf

Found a guy who is fabricating me a set of rock sliders and tree sliders and will cut out existing sills and weld in place. He is a landrover buff and a professional welder. However, the new sills etc will not be painted. He advised that I use red oxide and then paint over - not hammerite. What is the best paint to use?

whatever paint you use it will wear off over time where u get in and out of the landrover anyway

will split and peel off in short order. First chip from stones or what every, water gets behind it and starts to peel

just hammerite it and repaint as req tis what most peeps do...works for me anorl

Hammerite from me too, but don't use red oxide first though as Hammerite doesn't mix well with it. Oh and have you thought about getting a taller mrs?
