Hi, I am having a slight issue with my radio in my 2002 l322 td6. The radio volume goes loud and quiet, loud and quiet...... On its own. It also sounds like it has a bit of static and the occasion, what sounds like a surge of bass. The cd works and the computer display has no pixel issues. It is the standard radio/cd player not sat nav or DVD.
Can anyone he me identify the problem and point me in the right direction of getting it fixed.
Thanks

Check for damp in the rear left access panel in the boot.

That's if you have the amp fitted with your stereo ..

Hi again,
Many thanks once again. I unplugged the connector on top off the amp in the left handside of the boot. Sprayed both parts of the connector with electrical connector cleaner, allowed to dry for 20mins the re connectors with the radio switched on, hay presto volume issue resolved.

I still have a bit of static interference, however I have been told I can sort this by running an additional wire from the Arial connector at the window up to the top of the boot, this will help produce a stronger signal. I'll give it a go tomorrow and let you all know how I get on.
Thanks again

Woop !
Make sure you cover the amp with a plastic bag now to stop any further damage from happening
Otherwise when they break they can cost around £600 for a new one !!

The plastic cover is only a partial cure, if there is water in the bottom of the compartment or the spare wheel well condensation can be a problem with the electronics.
