hi all
i have fitted a light bar to my 300 tdi disco and they all work fine but now when i put my main beam on it kills my n/s head light and the relay in side the car constantly clicks but as soon as i turn the main beam on the n/s head light works fine and there is no clicking

How have you wired, or how do you think you've wired, everything up?

earthed the spots to the body of the car and run the power cable to the rear of the o/s head light and that light works fine

yu will burn out the light stalk in next to no time .

So you've taken a feed from the full beam to the relay then to earth
then another feed from somewhere (battery?) to the relay then to the spots then to earth?

if I've read right and you have taken all four lights straight off high beam feed. You got it wrong. and will melt your wiring. Spots need feeding from battery thru a relay. relay should be triggered by a switched feed from high beam wire. so that

A/ no loading is placed on the existing lighting circuit's
B/ lights can only come on when High beam is on
C/they can be switched off when high beam is on.

I have a nasty feeling that I read his answer the same way that you did. I just thought I'd give him a gentle nudge to show him the error of his ways.

I fully expect his reply to be along the lines of, "No I didn't use a relay".

while yu are at it, do the headlight mod as in the FAQ section.

Right, first of all disconnect your spots and check that your headlights work correctly.
Then check the earths that you've used for the relay trigger circuit and the spots.

one relay or 2? and what rating also what size bulbs in spots.

4 x 55w = approx 18amps 4x100w =34amps is your relay & wiring upto the task??

i have disconnected the lights all together and the n/s light is still the same problem

4 x 55w lights and the relay was supplied with the light when i brought the new from a local shop i dont think it has got anything to do with the spot because i have disconnected the spots and the n/s light this still playing up

So the spot light were a red herring. You've got an issue with your n/s dip beam. I'd have look for corrosion in bulb holder or connectors or bad earth, again probably corrosion.

i will have a look tommorw after work the dip beam works fine but turns off when i put the main beams on it drops the light down to just side light but i dont understand why would the under dash relay click consantly when the main beam is on

yer first post didnt make any sense atall

but yer last one says the dip beam is working but no main beam?

have you checked the bulb
