ffs, just knock the fooker on the head.

believe it or not, some geezer got done for "unnecessary cruelty" for drowning a rat.

Get yourself a Jack Russell, mine used to dispatch rats with surprising efficiency.

Reminds of a time I had an infestation of bats in our house, fumigated the fockers. That was the easy bit, getting rid of the filthy stinking dead flying rats was not nice. That was before some silly bugger decided they become protected, wont be long before somebody wants to protect rats

you want to be carefull with what you say. with out being rude its people like you that give other country people a bad name

Bats are insectavores and have never been considered vermin.....plus their guano is worth a fortune and is sold by the ounce

when i bought my gun.i were given some information what i could legally shoot.....and guess what RATS were on the list.

What gun do you use, I tried a 12 bore once but it made a hell of a mess. Didn't the noise wake all the neighbours :D :D

These days find a shovel is quicker and easier, and can be used after to bury them in the muck heap :D

Wouldnt the 12 bore render needing a hole nul as thered be no rat left haha

i once shot a rat on my mates uncles farm when i were a kid, that was a 410. i remember a flash and the rat totally disappeared, apart from a splat of claret

Couple of Jacks'll go though a pack of rats in seconds.....nothing even comes close to being as good

Exactly, thats why I moved onto a shovel :D

What was left could never have been identified as a rat :D

Hate the dammed things, so many at the yard at the moment I have to stamp my feet and shout to make them run before going into the hay store. Other night about 20 ran past me to get out  Yard owner only poisons them once a year and then we find half dead rats when mucking out.

i think poison is worse than shooting, as you said they have nasty long death but with a gun click and game over, plus a guns alot more accurate than poison (depends who is shooting though)

i've not thought about that for years til i read this fred, i wanna buy a gun now ;)
Here in Merka many herald the Colt revolver or the Winchester lever action as the gun that the won American west (with all our expansionist tendencies and wotnot) but it is in fact the good old smooth bore shotty that did the most work. Get one.
