Hi all. I cannot start mine after wading. The engine kept running fine in the deep water with snorkel, but I got home, turned it off, tried restarting after a while and it just turns over.

I've got fuel upto the injector pump, but nothing at the injectors. Key fob has no affect on alarm (all dead).........Is this an immobiliser fault?

Any advice appreciated. Cheers

No fuel at injectors points to the fuel cut off solenoid on the pump - which i think is part of the immobiliser circuit

Its 3 wire............one black harness and one blue, both with 3 wires.......Learning curve?

the harness your interested in is the one that goes to the rear of the pump. (the other's to do with the egr valve)
the rear harness is known as the edc (electronic diesel control) and is connected to the ecu. (alarm, immobiliser and central locking, located under the glove box)
thats about as much as i know about them, the one wire system is connected to the spider unit and can be bypassed fairly easily.
the edc is a bit more complicated, in that the fuel cut off solenoid on the pump needs to talk to the ecu.
if its all got wet, (inc ecu) i dont really know the best course of action.
hence the learning curve.

there is a thread somewhere on removing the edc on the pump, it does require removing an anti tamper cover, and is kinda less talked about due to people doing dodgy stuff. ie newbies asking how start "their" motor without a fob to de-activate the ecu.....

Used to have this prob on new ones back in 1997 after going through water and turned out to be EDC failure due to water ingress to the back of the pump.

There is a single wire under the fuel injection pump that energises the fuel solenoid.
Make sure it didn't fall off.

erm... its a 3 wire edc pump....

the 3 wires to black box over solenoid isnt edc ,you can break box off to get and remove shear bolts and fit a single ignition live to the short wire left on solenoid,though it is fairly water proof

its an anti theft system with out the correct signal as well as 12v pump solenoid wont open,it usual practice to break off its clamp over solenoid with 2 shear bolts like ignition switch edc is ecu control of pump ,no throttle cable and pump doesnt have boost diaphragm etc

Because I am not getting any response from my keyfob (c/locking and alarm), is it likely to be the ECU under the glovebox or the pump itself?

Which ECU is it?

The water was upto the front of the bonnet, and came in pretty fast. The electrics above foootwell did see some water, but its almost dried out now.

i would guess at the ecu, cant remember its exact location as its been a while since i last played with one. think its on a bracket next to the abs ecu, and was fiddly to remove iirc. (tho i may be confusing it with a one button fob)
may be time to remove the anti tamper cover on the back of the pump and convert to single wire.
kinda hard working thru words and not seeing it, specially as i dont really know much about it!

for ones that are immobilised and need to get going quick ,behind drop down panel under steering wheel is 3 wire loom going to fues box front its obvious as only one ,it has yellow .white/red and white wire ,if you connect white/red with scotchlock to starter solenoid and yellow to pump solenoid it will start , you can then sort alarm immobiliser issue and remove scotch lock and tape up

There are 3 wires going to the rear plastic solenoid cover on the back of the pump, and the 3 wires conect into the black harness. All of this looks ok, and doesnt look like its been wet.

I removed the ECU under the glove box. Its olive green in colour, and has 2 harnesses that plug into it (one green, one brown). This has seen water, and the PCB is real ****ty, with salisbury plain's finest

Can I replace this module from another Disco, or is it unique?
