Hi All, think i might have to buy a nanocom/hawkeye,as i cannot find anyone with the right machine locally.What kind of price are they available at,and what are the views on VFM and functionality.

Only have one real fault-for now-temp gauge not working,and need something that can show coolant temp and force temp gauge operation.

Looking forward to your personal views and experiences

Not tried the Hawkeye.

In the end I took Datatek and I think SaintV8's advice and got the Nanocom as I think it does more than the Hawkeye. Dead easy to use and I am very pleased with it. It is a little pricey though. IIRC with all the module for the GEMS and EDC I think it was near enough £400 with delivery. Knock £50 off if you just want the diesel modules.

The full-blown Faultmate looks the best of all but it is seriously pricey.

Hi Ed,
Bought the Nanocom Evolution II last week and paid £359.16 including Vat, post and packaging, and a 3% surcharge for using paypal. Took about 4 days to get here from placing order on line.
A bit expensive but a very good bit of kit.

got the Nanocom evo as well, blackbox solutions (BBS). find it on line, order it, wait a few days and it arrives, register on the site, get the codes and your good to go.

You won't regret it.
It might sound daft but they're even fun. I got a helluva kick out of sitting in the car one night sending windows up and down, switching lights on and off and playing with the heater, all from the Nano. Once I'd done all that and the car still started, drove and didn't blow up I had the confidence to delve a little deeper. It's a powerful wee beastie.

Has anyone tried to force the movement of the temp and fuel gauge to check operation through the Nanocom?? I know you can work heater,seats windows and stuff but i need to know if it can do the forced instrument operation in particular for the temp gauge.

A nanocom will set you back around the £400.00 mark wherever you get it from. The VAT is slightly cheaper in Cyprus but the postage kills it. So no matter where it comes from they all come in around the same price.

Cyprus VAT has gone up from 15% to 17% cos like Greece they are a bankrupt country

Yeah i know. Last time i was there diesel was 13p a litre bet it's a little more since they joined the EU. Road tax per year, for i think a five year old car, was £20.00, that was in 2001.
