Never had an auto but hear they quite bullet proof. lower mpg with auto.megga expense with manual if you need new clutch and flywheel.

There are pro's and cons for both, so it usually comes down to personal preference after driving a few.

Manual:
Pros: direct drive, it's what most are used to; better mpg than auto; good off-road;

Cons: clutch can be heavy for traffic use; expensive to replace Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF)


Auto:
Pros: Easy to drive; easy to tow with; easy in traffic; good off-road;

Cons: consume more fuel; poor Torque Converter; expensive to repair/replace

Test drive both, see which you prefer. Simple as that really, both have good and bad points as mentioned. I was dead against an auto until I drove one, wouldn't change it to a manual for **** now!
