when the steering reach operates its very squeaky i understand the shaft just needs greasing to stop this? does anyone know if there is a special grease for this? or the grease spec?
thought id update you on the outcome.i removed the shroud be taking out the 3 torx screws underneath which revealed the reach and tilt motors and their shafts, i spread some molybedenun grease on them both with a small artists brush this cured the reach problem straight away but not the tilt which has never worked either.so i slackened the nyloc nut on the end by half a turn and that did the job. tilt working as well. i added a second m8 nut on the end and locked in against the original nyloc nut to stop it moving again. wish all jobs were so easy
If you have locked it in place now using a nut, have you disconnected the motor then ?
No clutch - the weak point is it breaks the motor mount and the steering wheel goes limp!!thats correct datatek, the original nut was tightening itself on the shaft stopping it working correctly, iam suprised the motor didnt burn out. it may have some sort of clutch mechanism preventing burn out?
Me - i've got long legsah i see, i never really tried using it, thats why it was prob not broken.pretty pointless piece of kit anyway. the reach bit is cool but who uses the tilt?
