Bit of a strange one, I put 2" lift on my disco yesterday (brake lines springs and shocks) took it out to test on full articulation that the abs wires were not getting tight and everything was clearing nicely had it in low 2nd (no difflock on mine) and the fronts where spinning on the wet grass a tad but it didn't seem to want to drive the rears? Got it home put it up on axle stands had it in gear so all wheels should move? (I think lol) but I could hold both rears still while it was in gear engine idling what have I broken lol

Hi Matt, this is happening because you have no centre difflock on your D2.

OK, so are you familiar with how Traction Control is supposed to work? Do you have any warning lights staying on? When you start to lose tractiondoes the Traction Control light on the dashboard come up and the noise of the TC working?

The other thing to bear in mind is the the TC system works through the ABS brakes, so if your calipers, discs and pads are shâgged it will affect the TC & HDC operation.

There is a bit of a knack to using TC, as with most things. If yany of your wheels start to lose traction, you need to use constant throttle/revs, to allow the system to operate.

However, if you get to all 4 wheels spinning then TC won't help because the 'system' believes that you are moving !!!

At that stage, try feathering your brakes lightly and buy some better off-road tyres. Having a centre difflock under those circumstances wouldn't help either.

I have had the three amegos for ages but have had it off road many times with no problems. It did seem to be useless off road this time I will get it on a diagnostics see what's occouring as my understanding is the tc shud brake the wheel that's spinnin when the others are not moving?

i was asking if the warning lamps ABS, HDC, TC(3 amigos) are working or not on self test... do they come on then extinguish after ignition? ...or do you say you have them on constantly right now? ...in this case read the fault codes cos if the system has a fault it might missbehave and put brakes erraticaly where it shouldnt(e.g. on the rear axle)

Yes you are broadly speaking right, the ABS system monitors all wheels speeds and applies light braking to the one running at the highest speed.

However, if the 3 Amigos are permanently on, there is a fault on the system which could easily stop TC working.

Sounds like you need to sort out the Mexicans.
