i had fuel ****ing out of a hole in fuel tank today when i removed a screw that previous owner had put through it when fixing down the drivers floor plate.
It's alitlle awkward to get too but i have peeled back part of the seat box rim and can just get at it.
Don't want to weld it and was hoping for something i can get to stick to and seal it.

Any ideas folks?

Tried that but didn't seem to work. Just slowed the flow.
Was wondering about that tubed (mix it) metal weld stuff.
Have used it to fix some stuff in the past and it was 2 tubes you mix and apply. Goes off quite well but not sure if it will be suitable.

cheers mad hat and fanatic. looks like the right stuff to get.
will see if i can find something like it locally in morning.
we put the defender up on a ramp and she ****ed all over us... bitch lol

If you are going to stick a screw back in wrap some ptfe tape round it to form a seal. Did it to a van a number of years ago and it is still the same today.. ptfe is not affected by diesel...

i love it when they do that.

It looks like it did slightly, but wasn't noticeable.. just that diesel oily trace at top of tank.
I will try the ptf as a short fix and see how it goes.. if we can get it all sorted and back together that is.

up up and away lol

my first mini had some rust pin holes in the petrol tank.... i dented it with a large hammer and filled the dent with plastic padding...worked a treat.. petrol was about 50p a gallon then.

screwfix and toolstation both sell self drilling screws with washers on for holding roofing sheets to steel purlins.

I know the ones ricc but i'm pretty sure the diesel will perish the pad on the washer before too long.
I do have some of them though so worth a try maybe and see what happens.
Thanks mate.

One thing that would work is Thortex metal tech, it's an emetal type substance that is used widely by the military, to plug holes!

I might have used bakedbean tin lids and 2ps with jbweld / liquid metal to patch fuel tanks before. They might of also not leaked yet, after three years.
