Hi All.

Yep. Head Gasket looks to have gone.

I am budgeting around £500 to sort this. About right?
Anything I should look for or do at same time other than the nornal stuff!

best wishes,

Temp went off scale twice...limped home....but stopped the engine as soon as red light.

I have done your mod for the fans (they were running, viscous removed), new water pump and thermostate .

I can see some fluid on the floor but can't see quite where from. It maybe head close to the thermostat. the thermostat housing or the pipe underneath the stat housing.
However, after reading some previous posts I think it will be the head. Bugger...

The overheat might just be due to a leak, get a sniff test on the coolant before you strip it.

I boiled mine 4 times on motorway towing heavy trailer and it was fine after replacing rad fan and thermostat so it might not be bad news, I'd defanatly do the sniff test befor you condem it, good luck

Data. spot on...i'm getting too keen to strip it down!

Leak from pipe under thermostat.

tested robustly and all is well

sorted and refilled. all is fine.

my wife thinks i have Rang Rover fever!
many thanks.
