i have changed the remote door lock numerous times the lock on the car now will only open when you pull the handle inside ( the child lock is not on ) i changed one last week and it operated ok for a day then the lock makes all the right noises and the little indicator lifts up but the door lock wont open is there something im missing
any help would be great

Don't know if this is the problem, but the outside tailgate bar that you push up to open is prone to sticking, so it doesn't always return all the way back down, with the result that it won't work next time. You can lever it back down a bit and it then does work. You can also remove the Land Rover badge on the cover of the handle which give you access to lubricate it.

As they are different so have different issues would that be a D1 or 2 lock?

Of course it is
The lock has two servos (actuators) if you know the lock and it's electrical supply are ok then it has to be adjustments, operating rod and the lock fixing... if there's adjustment available on a D2, there's nothing else.

Good question, I don't know.. just look at it and see if it's operating when locking unlocking?
