Hi there,

Great forum people, new to this!!

I have 2004 L322 and the rear wiper was working fine...then a couple of weeks it just stopped.

I looked at the fuses all fine etc...then couple of weeks later it started working again out of the blue!!

Then literally a couple of days later its back to non-working!

I have also noticed when the rear wiper is working the PDC 'error' alarm beep works on reverse etc... but when the wiper does NOT work at all nor does the PDC error alarm/light beep on reverse.

Very confused, could it be a boot/tailgate sensor etc

Any comments would be really appreciated.

Broken wire where it flexes as the tailgate opens or a bad earth. You would get a message if the tailgate was open I presume?

Well on the P38, I get a message if any door is left open on the dash message center, I presume the L322 has a similar feature, so if it was a problem with the tailgate not being shut you would know That really just leaves a wiring fault or a bad earth. there are known problems with the PDC loom chaffing, not sure if that's at the front or rear, do a search using the site search not the Google search and you will find plenty of info on PDC problems.

I get no message etc saying tailgate is opened etc...maybe not a feature on L322.

Think it might be the tailgate wire as when I opened it, the wire was flexed the other way round, not in natural position.- or as you say might be PDC loom/earth.

The L322 does tell you whenever a door is open and which door is open eg tailgate.

Check power to the motor
Could always be a faulty motor

When you mean faulty motor, you mean rear wiper motor?

Can it just work and sometimes not work then?

They get full of cr@p and seize up. they are just plastic cogs so take it to pieces ( easy to do, less than an hour) and give it some lube. A good "how to"is on fullfatrr.com
