try borrowing a couple of landie wheels of a mate to try?

the only way to seek that problem is to take out variables you cannot control.
start with a pair of balanced wheels on the front, to see if that cures it,
if not......

If they won't balance (I take it you've tried on a machine) your wheel(s) could be buckled... Or the tyres faulty, maybe internally where you can't see.

bad shaking ,like a tank slapper on a mc is caused by loose swivel bearings and/or knackered steering box. You can try balancing your wheels,changing steering dampers but it will come back to the former reasons

My Disco runs fine without a damper, I tried .. if you have vibration and change the damper and the vibes go away, they actually haven't .. the damper just damps them out so you don't feel them, the original fault is still there.

If the damper's nackered it could be the vibration that's nackered it!

any mud on the inside of the rim? Had a doris freaking about an "undrivable" hilux we'd off roaded. Popped the wheel off and there was a lump of clay on the inside, maybe a half a pound.
Id be concerned about wheels that wont balance

As I understand it - and I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.... if you have tried balancing the wheels then that must have been off the vehicle. If they won't balance then the issue is with the wheels or tyres.

The suggestion of borrowing a known good set is best, problem is that you won't know whether you have damaged anyother steering components unless you check thoroughly.

When you put the known good wheels on and find that you still have vibration issues then you must assume that major steering components are faulty. This will not be the steering damper... the damper only lessens the effect, absorbing the effect of road bumps on the steering...

Fitting another damper would be akin to Zaphod Beeblebrox wearing glasses that immediately go opaque when faced with danger

Its your steering box and/or swivel bearings. Ive been mending these old crocks for over twenty years and thats what it is99.9% of the time sorry

yes wheel was took off and put on machine..then i was told it needed more than double the suggested weights. he said because the tyres were so big that were the trouble and that they were re treads.tyre size 265x75x16s.
did go and purchas a terraferma from craddocks and put it on.not alot of differance to be honest.but at least it looks good ......from underneath.lol
the wobbling is bad around 50mph so faster or slower is the key.

Are you running on Alloy's when the shaking starts. If so it could bee that the Off set is wrong for your car you may need spacers behind the wheels to sort it out. This happened to me, check the rest of your steering to ensure shake didn't damage owt else.

yeh on deep dish alloys.will get all steering chacked tho.
