Seeing as my previous dealings with dvla are they are a total bunch of c**ts.
I thought when they want something from me I'd return the favour, now the offence they screw you on is wrong details if you don't renew.

Direct.gov says you can carry on driving on an expired photo while processed.
As there are numerous reports of them f**king renewals and passes up, I have "lost" mine for the duration.

So I have an old photo from years ago to send in, crossed their BS declaration out and signed it.
No £20 cheque and recorded delivery, lets make them find out how annoying it is to get in contact with someone who doesn't give a f**k.

Mean while I'll just drive on:D
f**k them it can go to stalemate and I'll keep a copy of the recorded delivery ticket

My licence is now 30 years old and has no photo.

Won't need renewing for another 20 years either.

Lucky get. I keep moving so lost my paper one a few years back. Otherwise it would be twenty free years old now.

I sent mine in this week, all bound up with super strong parcel tape. Get into that you f**kers! (The envelope got knackered in my pocket whilst I tried to find a friend who still used a cheque book. I mean, who does...)

I've got to do mine at the end of the year.
I'm going to play the game as I can't be bothered with the hassle.

If I do it online they will take the photo/signature from my passport ( it's been renewed within the last 5 yrs) and they'll send me the new one.

£20 lighter:mad:

Exactly-change of address free,
photo £20 so they have a photo sent in and can swing for the money, further to this I refuse to sign statements so line through the declaration.

Which I have no bones about driving on while they swivel for payment as their own website deems it valid.

they fooked ub good n proppa with my lisence when i renewed it

id got a speeding ticket requiring me to send me license into the courts wich i noticed had expired and i was looking at a 2 year ban coz i already had 12 points on expecting 3 more for the speeding offence and the 2 yr ban for it being me 2nd offence

so i sent it off with a new pic signed by a local official as a true likeness of me and all that s**t when i sent it off the lisence had 7.5 tonne category on it and a motorbike pillion status

when i got it back there were no points on it ( clean as a whistle) lost the 7.5 tonne thingy and me bike lisence was reduced to CBT status

theyre not to be trusted with your lisence in any way just take a fotocopy of the f**kin thing before you send it off and get that fotocopy signed as original at yer local police station as proof i wish i had !!!

They are cocks and generally won't accept it, best way is say you lost it-say tidying the house looked and couldn't find it.

If they question it your still looking for it and if your new one returns wrong-low and behold you found it as original proof.

My dealings with DVLA are they make simple situations difficult, as we had a vehicle incorrectly registered from new and they wanted all manner of things for a factory standard model. It's still not totally right as a MWB not a LWB but **** them.

Technically if it were involved in an accident the details would be incorrect and your insurance would be invalid.

Dvla won't accept a photocopy as proof! When I renewed mine I told them i'd lost it. The reason being that they will only accept a pass certificate or old license as proof, so if they fugged up any of my details or if my license came back missing 7.5 tonne or my full motorcycle entitlement i could miraculously find the lost one. Dvla will not admit to any of their errors and many peoples full license details were lost when Dvla changed/updated their system from paperwork/computer to fully computerized. There were quite a few bikers caught out who actually had to retake their bike tests because of this. Including a police motorcycle mechanic, despite the Chief of Police telling Dvla that he had personally seen the license (held for some 20 years) and that there was no way the mechanic could have been in his job without it! Ffs! Fortunately my license came back with all entitlements intact and I understand most probs are sorted at Dvla now, but If anyone is renewing/changing details etc, check your license carefully upon return!

No my insurance covers anything upto and including 7.5 ton:D no steam engines or cosworths:p

Interesting one fanny . I still have the pink/green licence from when i was 17, has hgv1 from when i was was 21 and an sp30 from 1988 :D

I got a producer a long time ago and was told by a lady plod that my licence wasn't a legal document anymore . ha not the brightest ;)

Anyway i do know of peeps losing entitlements after sending theirs off and so mine would of been mislaid also if this need arose.

so what is a long time ago 1 week , 1 month , 1 year ? mr 2 watt bulb :D

Hang on, is a two watt bulb better than a four watt bulb these days? I'm confused. I'm also hanging on to my paper licence for as long as I can - even though it's a CSI job to read it!
