Hi i'm new to the forum.
I have a Freelander TD4 Auto 2005 and have a couple of issues I am unable to address.

My vehicle only does 22 to the gallon, is this usual around town ?

When I turn it off sometimes I get a lot of smoke out of the front N/S corner so bad people have pointed it out to me thinking the landy is on fire

Finally, honest, every now and again the engine will turn over but not stay running like fuel starvation this is usually when its warm

PLease does anyone have any ideas, this is my first 4WD
and I think its fantastic, converted car person

Oh and to start you off the smoke is prob the steam vent for ya curling tongs..

A bit heavy with the right foot perhaps?

Hello

I'd suggest you headd over the Freelander section, it is a little less bestial ;) Ignore the tratter drivers, jealousy is a cruel mistress :)

The smoke is probably your fuel burning heater, a little diesel burner that helps to heat up the engine coolant when it's cold, if the engine is still cold when you turn it off it will go through a purge cycle, which includes chucking loads of smoke out of its exhaust.

Folk who own tratters and rust boxes don't have these luxuries and can be upset by those of us who do have them :)

BTW, once you get past the **** taking / abuse you've found a very, very helpful forum, but please, do a search before you ask a question, the old hands are the ones with all the answers and they do get justifiably peeved if asked the same question 20 times a week :)
