time below are my findings of the synergy2a+ tuning box for my 2004 td4 manual you can make you own mindes up hope it helps

synergy off maf off 30mph to 60mph in 4th 14 secs
box fitted in eco mode ie green light on from 30mph to 60mph in 4th 13 secs.
box fitted in eco2 mode ie middle setting no light 30mph to 60 mph in 4th 12 sec
on setting 3 on box in 4th 30mph to 60mph 11 secs
on setting 4 on box in 4th 30mph to 60mph 9.5 secs
on setting 5 on box in 4th 30mph to 60mph 8 secs

and its a lots smother and more positive in response

i had a full tank of full brimed and 3 adults in car if this info helps anyone there it is.
egr bypass fitted new air filter and bmw crank breather done tyers 30 psi .

first impresions are good much smother and more power through the rev even in eco mode so next test will be mpg ill keep you informed

ok with a heavy right food iv managed 31.4 mpg thats driving hard alot lol ill do a eco one next week still playing ..
and just for me 0 to 60 in wet 10 secs setting 5

We needed some comparative figures.

Could you do a test run with the switch in the centre 'off' position, please?

You should wait until your excitement has died down a little before you get a true mpg figure.

I would also be checking the tightness of the hose clamps on the turbo hoses - especially the 90 degree one where it enters the EGR by-pass. If you blow one of them off on full throttle - it could be messy.

I thought the middle position was supposed to be off - ie standard, with the Synergy doing nothing.

Check it anyway if you can - it'll be interesting just to compare.

I can't tell much difference in performance between eco and off myself - but then I've not tried it with a stop-watch.

go to rons www and read the info green = eco map.
red = what set on box ie 4 for me
and in the middle just a little bit more than green

but will do the test

Hi Sing, it depends on how old your synergy is, the older ones like mine, where i already had the dash switch are the "wrong" way round, red is ECO middle is ECO2 or OFF depending on how you wanted it at time of Ron doing the upgrade, and green is determined by the setting on the Synergy itself.

Thanks for that - so the only difference is the red and green lights are reversed?

I have the latest Synergy2a+ with an early type switch. I didn't send back the switch to be upgraded - only the box itself.

sent mine back and got the new switch ie> push in one light on or off. i understand that when light is off its eco mode is this right?

So that's the push switch you have which seems to have only 2 positions - on or off, I think, and the light shows for 'power', I think. (My god - 2 X 'I think' in one sentence, I think.)

I've got the earlier 3 position switch that shows green when it's in 'power' mode and red in 'eco'.

The newer set up has it the other way round so green is 'eco'.

I believe there was also a rocker switch at one point in the evolution of this kit.

Just a tad confusing.

Hi rhodie,

It's very refreshing to see your posts and read how much pleasure your Freelander is giving you.

There is not enough 'fun' in driving these days. but having a 'Wolf in sheep's clothing' type of Freelander gives one a certain feeling of satisfaction, as you have discovered.

Overtaking with ease and extra safety is the way to go.

Have you done a timed run with the switch in the centre position to complete the results you posted a day or so ago?

Be careful with foam as some types can hold dampness.

I wrapped mine in bubble wrap and then put it in a zip-lock bag leaving just enough open for the cables.

Right up the back of the bulkhead behind the fuse-box it should be well enough protected from spray coming up through the wheel-arch.
