No, I think the one Wannagetmuddy was referring to is the one that his behind the cup and circlip that retains the regulating spring on the outside of the FPR.

Just seen these. Couldnt find this before when I was changing it last year. A lot cheaper than changing with the above.

But this is the bit you have to change when you take the regulator out its held in with a circlip
at the bottom you can see the round cap type thing

But which FPR would I have? The early one or the later one? Mine has 1A in the vin number.

Not sure if it's been covered, or the exact issue, too much to read, but if it's FPR related and air is getting in to the fuel a way to get it to start easier is to run the fuel purge procedure, turn on the ignition and press the throttle 5 times in quick succession, you will hear the fuel pump fire up and it will run, if you hear sloshing and gurgling then there was air in the fuel and this is causing poor starting.

Remember the signs for this seal being split would be leaking on the back of the engine so please check before you attempt to strip it.

On the disco its a pain in the rs to do, you will need a lot of patience and small pair of hands to get to it.


Also have you checked your battery lately? it may not have enough charge to crank the engine.

Right. I don't see any leaks at least nothing drips on the floor. I just wanna know all this so that I am ready when it happens plus I have to get the parts from Dubai or UK so I will place the order once, family or friends will bring them over.

Mine is a Defender and hands are big! Lets see how it goes, worst I will take the manifold off.

I replaced the battery an year ago and I don't its bad. I will still check.

OHh you have the easier one to do the defender has a lot more room so it will be a lot easier.

Its a 2001 one and it has the simpler EGR... the early one I guess.

Have you blanked that egr valve that would help you have a smoother running of it.

Yes I removed the egr and fitted the removal kit.
