Haven't been on in a while as the RR has been behaving very well this past while.
Have been nosing around generally and I have some seepage at swaged hose joints ( ( Sump to oil cooler and gAuto gearbox to oil cooler.)
I am contemplating a general renewal policy and was wondering if any general advice is available as opposed to just heading for the main stealers and buying new complete pipe units.....I suppose that might end up as a more sensible step in the long run.
Any help advice appreciated as always.

why buy from main dealer you can get a lot cheaper genuine or oe parts from independants

If your intending to change them be very careful undoing pipes because the pipe fittings are steel and the oil coolers are ally and the chances of you getting them of the coolers without stripping the threads is pretty remote. If you do get them of well done but you could end up get 2 new coolers aswell.Alternatively if you know someone who works as a mobile hydraulic pipe repairer they would be able to fix the joints without touching the coolers.

The concern about stripping the threads to the coolers is what had made me hesitate about doing it earlier . Somebody had recommended Pirtek. What he suggested was that I should cut the metal oil cooler pipes and get Pirtek to supply a new section ( from memory 1/2" OD) and get compression fittings to rejoin the cut ends.
That might be a bit more problematic with the cooler pipes from the gearbox.

I have replaced oil cooler hoses, retaining and not disturbing the steel ends by using "Wade" compression fittings. They are 1/2" O.D. steel pipes on the hoses..double check with a vernier/micrometer to be sure. The threads on the Wade fittings for the nuts are 1/2" B.S.P. and they will fit the 1/2" female B.S.P. swage type hose fittings that are very common and readily available.
The Wade fittings will easily cope with both engine and transmission fluid operating pressures and will be more than capable of withstanding the pressures that the aluminium coolers can handle.
I can vouch from first hand experience the problems encountered with stripped threads on the cooler stub connections, luckily, when I cut through the steel pipe to enable the use of the Compression fittings, I could of course remove the clogged nuts and run a tap down them to clear the aluminium from them. From memory there are two thread sizes used-M20 X1.5 pitch and M22 X 1.5 pitch. If anyone needs to obtain these taps at a good price, Google "Rotagrip" in Birmingham. Luckily we had them at work.

P.S.
I still have a selection of 1/2" Wade fittings lying in a box in my garage, just in case !!!
