had a discovery for about 9years with 113000 on clock apart from 3 amigose on dash nothing wrong with it i am thinking of getting a tdv6 but when i look at them they nearly all have more miles on the clock, my question is is it better to keep mine or risk a newer year. i would be greatfull of any advice

how many miles should i go before having engine belts or whatever changed ? and how much does it cost

Given the choice between keeping a low mileage TD5 ot upgrading to a hiher mileage TDV6..... I'd keep the TD5 every time.

If its just a daily then I would prefer a TDV6. Cam belt is every 150k IIRC

I used to have a Disco 3 TDV6. Absolutely lovely car to drive, but did like a drink if you drove with any gusto at all, and was costly on road tax too (post March 2006), so couldn't justify, (or afford) keeping it as a daily driver. Had a Disco 1 before that, and the 2 cars are like chalk and cheese.

If I remember correctly there are some other belts that have to be changed at a certain mileage, and it used to be a body off job to do it, but I believe that different methods of doing it were found to avoid taking the body off. That will be the fuel pump belt which is at the back of the engine. Its not hard to change but I wouldnt like to try one in vehicle
