The heated seats are not working in my dhse. Dont know if they were when I bought it, the woman said they were but she has turned out to be an accomplished con artist.
Searched the archives and achieved nowt.
Neither seat is showing any sign of heating either the seat or back.
Any (sensible) suggestions welcome.

The seat heater filaments are notorious for breaking under the folds in the seats. Check to see if you've got power to the connector under the seat. If you have then your choice is to either repair or replace the elements in the seats. It's about the same amount of work either way but repairing costs next to nothing except time, replacing well obviously new elements.

I repaired both of mine in an afternoon. There have been a lot of threads on this over the years so you could have a search. It may sound a bit weird but might I suggest that, unless you've got a big bench in a shed/garage to do the work, you wait until the weather's a bit better because you could end up kneeling outside the car. Not nice with rain dripping down your neck.

Any problems PM me, after next week as I'm off to play in the snow up in the Highlands, if it's still around when I get there.

Thanks DB, I will make a start soon as the weather improves a bit. You will likely be back from the Highlands by then
She who must be obeyed has allowed me to strip and rebuild a gearbox on the kitchen floor and take over the dining table for a week while I repaired a radio transmitter but I think she might draw the line at a couple of gert big P38 seats in bits in our little sitting room  even one at a time.

My front seat has also packed up, iv looked into this a few times.

The problem with repairing any heating element it's that you won't get a constant resistance throughout the whole element, therefore creating 'hot spots' which is a major fire risk

Also have to peel of all the leather, easy to feck up and rip it

Haemorrhoid cultivators IMO Bill, they don't work on mine and if they did I'd have disconnected them as I did on my Volvo. Not much worse than a dose of sweaty arse!
I just start the car a few minutes before I go out and all is defrosted, warm and safe to drive.
Getting the leather skin off the seat can be done in situe, it's not that difficult. I had mine off the drivers seat so I could re-stitch it after the bloody airbag exploded.

What happened there then???????
I had a minor off road excursion which banged the rear corner and triggered the airbag. Fecking waste of time as the bag went into the rear compartment, the main damage was a bent panhard rod and the damaged seat. Had to replace the SRS ECU as a fired airbag fault cannot be re-set and I made up a mod so that I could remove the side airbags (which should be replaced at 10 years old) without the ECU knowing they are missing.:)

I am thinking you are right Keith. Also, that means I don't have to bother :D It doesn't take long to warm up anyway I hadn't even noticed it to be honest till I put them on the other day while I left the car running before we went out.
Maybe I will leave it, at least till the warmer weather, then we won't need them ;)

Happy New Year to You and Yours
Bill
