Waited 4hrs in snow & sub freezing temps, when I bought the Green disco..

The bleeding subby has just called to say they're going to be 30 mins late and they're only going to take me off the motorway to see if they can fix it - don't care about my diagnosis. grr. They have no idea about how I will get my free hire car either. Well done, the AA.

Can see it being a long night. Got a hungry dog in the back too!

Unless the repair can be carried out quicker than loading, It is now common practice to recover to a place of safety before fixing.

If you've told em yer rad is fecked, I'm guessing it's a stalling technique cos all their mechanics are busy. We have some mechanics in flat beds ( I was one of em until I had to change trucks last year) They are primarily for covering the motorway and rural areas (with a dense 4x4 population).

Ok, been abandoned at a services in Bristol now. AA are supposed to be coming but are late.

Been thinking about what might be wrong.

On the way down, I got caught in very heavy traffic. Just as it cleared, the temp started to rise. Only went to 3/4 but never goes above halfway normally. Stopped to check and the rad only seemed warm. Heater has been a bit on and off for the past couple of weeks - assumed it was a blend or sensor issue.

Breakdown dude had a quick look and doesn't think it's a hg issue but suggested it might be an iffy water pump when I described the other symptoms.

Thoughts anyone (preferably constructive).

Aust, Gordano or Leigh Delamere services?

Gordano I think. Surprise, surprise, the AA are running late again. Will be another 30 mins. Oh. They're here.

sorry to hear about it mate, bummer for the new year!

my inhibit switch started playing up today if it makes you feel any better

Water pump fails, water boils, dodgy joint in radiator blows to release pressure. New water pump and radiator, fingers crossed its not blown the HG.

That's what I'm hoping.

It was the AA in the end - just got home.

So just got to order the bits now. Anything else I should do while it's all apart?

Thermostat, OEM for preferance and check it opens in hot water on the stove before you fit it.
Good luck Guy, I hope that is all it is. Happy New Year with greasy mits:)

Cheers all. Seems like everywhere is shut until Tuesday though so I can't get any bits until at least then. Grr.

On flat bed no.1 now.

Need to find a rad now. Do we like Island's rads? I recall some debate...

At the end of the day, even Land Rover don't make their own radiators they're just contracted out.

Island 4x4 will get the best deal they can, you have a company that you can contact if anything go's wrong.

I've never had a problem with parts from them and at least on some parts theres a choice of ****part, oem or other makes. I just try and stay away from S/Parts own branded stuff.
