Does anyone know the minimum start voltage for a DSE p38?

12v would be a good answer but my battery is showing 11.4v on the meter and wont turn. Couple of sluggish turns then 'click click' with airbag fault only.

Started 3/4 times on the button yesterday just to move it round on the drive followed by engine off lights on for 5 mins to change number plate light bulb and this morning nothing.

I'm guessing the 4 starts took the out the battery but I need the reassurance this happened to some one else? Never had probs with RF receiver and an insomniac BeCM etc

I'm guessing a weak battery, but prevention and cure and all that I'm not sure if the alternator is charging at its best. Therefore has anyone repaired their alternator before changing the bushes and do they have step by steps instructions or know where I can find some?

Thanks all.

it sounds as though your battery needs a charge,it may have volts but does it have the amps? with vehicle running alternator should kick out about 14.3 volts 14.5 is fine 15+ and that is overcharging, put battery on charge and check it is not being drained and see where you go from there.
mine will stay charged for 2 weeks the alarm takes the battery down.
i have the biggest battery i could fit on,i suggest you do the same.

i take it this is now fixed? information given was useful?

Yes thanks all fixed. It turned out to be a dead battery that lost 1mv every 2 seconds from full charge.

Alternator charged at 13.9 at idle and 14.3 at 2000rpm.

The alarm was D/C and its the old claxon one so wont charge anyway. The BeCM was being woken every 12mins which I found after connecting an ammeter. After unplugging the blue wire for the RF the beCM stayed asleep and drew 3mA for an hour before i gave up timing, without waking up.

So prevention is better than cure. Got a new battery for the winter anyway and stongly recommend Yuasa cargo 640. 1000CCA and 100aH deep cycle all for £93 inc VAT.
