Today I found a massive crack :doh: in the chassis at the drivers dumb iron, only the top of the chassis is holding it together!
Picture is attached.
The question is would it be acceptable to plate this as that means I can get it done quickly and back on the road or should I replace?

All advice taken on board then obviously some if not all ignored

probably as quick to replace there fairly easy to fit depends how rotten ,doesnt look like any steel left to weld

Another question, on the replacement part like this one DUMB IRON FRONT CHASSIS R/H. 1958-84 - JC100R - Land Rover Parts & Range Rover Parts
does it fit over the chassis like a socket?
Just guessing this from the picture obviously!
