Tried a couple of Sites in USA and they are crap slow, youtube etc still fast:doh: wasn't me

But this very site is hosted from a Chicago server. So it can't be the U.S in general. And I think youtube is hosted on local servers, like wikipedia, so there not actually in the states.

Okay there is something very very odd going on,

if I set my identity as anything other than firefox and have swapped open DNS servers for google DNS servers it goes faster.

Opera doesn't make a **** of difference, but firing up TOR and running a proxy is faster-wtf

Checked for a rootkit on my linux box, I'm now considering a call on Monday to my isp unless anyone has an idea as to why it is like some sites and links do not exist without TOR switched on and DNS change hasn't solved it-the static ip shows as not listed for spamming (because I don't)

Anyone know if NEWZBIN blocking will be at exchange level? not that it will stop me!

Just wondered if it is being implemented as I have just spoken to two people one on the same exchange and a neighbouring one suffering weird issues across providers, OS systems and two local exchanges.

I think a phone call tomorrow

look we all know you have OCD but ffs speak english will you :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I've always stuck to Open DNS, found it the fastest in my opinion. Are you on a static IP with your ISP? If so, are you being throttled by them? I'm getting raped by talktalk throttling me to oblivion, but I can't get another deal with true infinite download for this price so its swings and round abouts.
Don't think NEWZBIN blocking is in effect yet. That said, I been suffering weird stuff over the last week or so. Think it could be the brown out's and **** ups we were warned of, with IPv4 running short.

From the newzbin2 site.

We've had reports from several users of BT blocking Newzbin2. Some have said they can get in using a VPNs but not otherwise. We aren't sure if this is a DNS fubar or a proper block - which we understood only to be happening after October 14th & the UK High Court's injunction.

Comments below or on the blog please.

Update: We are still checking to see if our DNS is broken. Will let you know.

Update2: one of our our DNS fell over. We should have it up at some point soon. Red faces here. Sorry for the panic.

On the plus side this is 'encouraging' us to work harder on our anti-blocking solutions. We plan to have a very rough downloadable Newzbin2 client application in a few days. Initially for Windows (&probably Linux) & then a few days later OSx. It'll be crude but it'll let UK users get to us whatever Brit Telecom do.

100gb month fair use and static ip run what you like-it's weird as it is like a DNS issue site found but the page is horrendously slow on numerous sites.

Change of computer no different-going to call tomorrow as it is bizarre that two exchanges next to each other are behaving the same on different isp's
Only common factor is BT

Snigger
FBI installing a black box in local exchange

Alien invasion

Someone ****ed up and accidental put a throttling profile on my account-most likely

Okay this is really strange, open DNS ****e this morning-changed to google DNS ****e

Changed back to Open DNS and it is a DNS issue as sites I couldn't get reappear as resolvable on open DNS now

Very odd

Okay the outcome of this is traceroute and ping fine - but when browser used useless and it is isp configuration that stops http on some sites.

VPN bypasses the settings, but allegedly it is fixed now.

Said to them the porn works but I'd like to read the news
