Following on from my previous thread and having fitted new battery terminals and bypassing the faulty isolator i am still having problems with starting, this morning i tried to start it, it clicked the first few times but then started to turn over but not enough to fire up, i then successfully started using another new battery (not mine) and it started perfectly fine. after a short drive i turned off the engine and then started it back up immediately and it started (with the old battery). So i am trying to find out if this is a starter motor problem or a battery problem as i don't really want to have to buy both.

all help appreciated as this is really staring to p*ss me off.

get battery tested if batteries OK its starter

Any indy workshop should be able to test your battery - even the muppets at Halfrauds say they can. Takes seconds and at least you'll know what needs replacing.

My money is on the battery.

Sounds like your battery. When you replaced the terminals did you make sure that you have a good grip on the cables, and that they are both going to clean connections ... especially on the earth?

I had a similar problem a few years back and it turned out that the +'ive battery cable terminal wasn't tight enough to securely clamp the cable!

I jumped it from another car and it started quite easily so i am going to go with the battery and get it tested tomorrow and then if needs be get a new one, so can anyone suggest a good battery that isn't too expensive, would you recommend going to halfords or are they overpriced?

Bout £90 online for one so I did pay £30 in store but I kinda needed it this week but then again I saved on delivery so probs overspent by £25. No biggie but I suppose internet wholesalers get everything even cheaper than shops do

I got a bosch silver one for £55 from eurocarparts, it was a reduced price normally about £70 with free delivery
