Hi all
Just purchased my first Land rover today , in fact its only my 2nd ever car the first being the Mercedes A class im about to say a sad farewell to.
Would you believe we went out shopping for a bigger car for me with a Jag X type in mind and came home with a Land rover Freelander hardback.... I'm a little daunted i have to say as we were very dilligent in researching the Jag for fuel consumption etc and i just read that the 2.5 freelander is a gas guzzler !!! ............. Any views ?

Hi Kima and welcome

Its a shame you didnt research the Freelander as deeply as the Jag as petrol Freelanders are well known for Head Gasket Failure. Use the cooling off period to change your mind and go for a TD4 if you like the 'Hippo' as much as the rest of the owners here.
I'm assuming here that you bought the Freelander Mk1 as opposed to Freelander 2?

:welcome2:

and good luck, hope you've got a genie in a bottle with at least one wish left

The more I see of Numptys buying petrol gaylanders, without doing their research first, the more I realise that the saying "there's one born every minute" is completely true.

Thank you for your comments all, i will give it some though... I was as we all are at times Smitten by the Freelander on sight and acted impulsively.
I do however feel that Treweys comment is a little rude and impractical, i'm not one to usually act on impulse but hey ho im only human !
Who knows ... I may have just bought a gem ?

Rude - oh dear think you've joined the wrong forum, wait till your Hippo suffers overheating/Coolant loss or HGF then

There are no 1.8 petrol gems

they say the truth hurts and he is telling the truth and not being rude, infact for trewey hes been very polite and gentle with ya

as a gaylander owner you will need more of a sense of humour if your to fit in well with the forum

im more than happy to take on advice if its given in the right manner but if owning a land rover excuses you for being a rude biggot then im more sad i bought it for that reason ... what a weird lot you are ...
i'm sure someone will reply with even more vitriol so i'll save you the bother , i'll deactivate the account and find someone else with a little less doom and gloom.... god your'e a depressing bunch !

why dont you post in freelander section .not my cup of tea and k series was renowned for head gaskets etc but ive have a good few customers that have trouble free motoring incuding one i did head gasket 5 years ago and still going strong

Some people are sooo touchy! I thought Trewy was a real gent... it was a real nice welcome and the noob had to go and get all offensive!
