Hi I have just bought a 2002 D2 TD5 and have a few question already and prob more to come,

1) I found some random plugs not being used when under it, one under the drivers seat area one next to the fuel filter, any ideas what there for?

2) To fit cruse control I just need the 2 switches ? Do they have to come from a TD5 or are V8 ones the same

3) Is the wiring there for the front fogs, again do I just need a switch?

4) and the same goes for fitting a heated front screen is it just a switch and windscreen?

Drivers seat plug will be for heated seats not sure about one at fuel filler. cruise control switches all the same most disco`s have wire`s for the extras dont know about the heated front screen as that was only on top models [xs-es] or optional extra on lesser models but think it will have the wires

1) Do you have ACE fitted? - if not - there are electrical connections for the solenoid valves and pressure sensor in the ACE valve block, which is fitted to the outside of the RH chassis rail, below the driver's door.


2) TD5 and V8 cruise control switches are the same.

The only differences are between pre and post-facelift vehicles -

Pre-facelift switches are Ash Grey

Post-facelift switches are Black

3 ) Front fog lamp wiring should already be in place, the Green connector should already be there behind the LH side of the instrument binnacle and the front fog lamp connectors (White Econoseal connectors) should already be fitted on the body panel behind the wheelarch closing panel on the back of the front bumper.

You'll also need a relay in position R12 of the engine compartment fuse box.

In addition to needing a front fog lamp switch, you'll also need to replace your existing rear fog lamp switch with one that fits with a front fog lamp switch.

On vehicles with no front fog lamps, the rear fog lamp switch fits at the top of the LH side of the instrument binnacle.

On vehicles with front fog lamps fitted, the front fog lamp switch fits at the top of LH side of the binnacle and the rear fog lamp switch fits in the space below it.

You can't use your existing rear fog lamp switch, as it's a different shape to the one fitted with a front fog lamp switch.

You'll also need to have the front fog lights 'enabled' in the BCU.


4) If you have the heated screen connectors (see pic below) on the scuttle panel under the bonnet, then the Green connector should be behind the switch blank above the heated rear window switch in the 'six pack' on the facia.

You'll also need a relay in position R8 in the engine compartment fuse box.

You'll also need to have the heated screen 'enabled' in the BCU.

There's also a corresponding connector for the LH side of the heated screen, but I couldn't find a picture of that side.


You would find a copy of RAVE very useful, it has - wiring diagrams, circuit descriptions, connector details, user handbook, workshop manual, modifications and recall details, accessory installation instructions, etc...

You can download it for the Discovery II as 'rave01.iso'

Excellent reply, Shoud have said under the floor rather than just under the seat, No I dont have ace and thats right where the valve bit goes, do you think the one near the fuel filter is part of the ace too?

So looks like I just need to get switches and a relay, I do have the plugs under the windscreen for it, that's what gave me the idea of upgrading it, as I love it on my p38 and misses focus.

For your heated front window once you have fitted the window, switch and relay you will also need to enable the BCU for it to work.

I know this as I have just fitted one to mine.

Thanks for the rav link, had it for the p38 never used it that much but I need to clear some disk space before downloading it.

I'll get everything fitted then take it to fantasic people at mansfeilds to get them enabled.
