td-200tdi?

the 200tdi is still a standard land rover engine.. im getting quoted of 6000 with the engine swap! i am 20 and have tried all the usual places, just to hear 'we dont look at people with landrovers under 25' when i kno people younger then me insured with them!!!

Why not just put a 200/300 in yours?

It's a 19j at the mo and I pay 900, which I think is reasonable. Trouble is, I'm with admiral and they wont insure the engine swap, but they will if it's a 'standard engine replacement' so wondred if a 200 could be classed as a standard engine..

When I ring specialist companies, I get the 25 year old spiel. **** knows what I'm sposed to do!

If its an older landy, which it sounds like, get it on a classic policy with footman james.

That's what I'm on currently with my 110, me being 19 years old and the car being 20. £750 in my own name.

For some reason though, when Karlos rang them up they told him they don't insure under 25s

My policy with them is coming to an end soon-ish, it makes me wonder whether they have changed their quoting requirements since I took out my policy with them. Which means that in theory, they will refuse to renew my policy come September

Fecking insurance companies!

Hmm..possibly..but you do need to ask for the classic department.

Yeah, although you would have thought that they would have suggested it over the phone, instead of just giving him a flat out "no". Unusual for an insurance company NOT to try and sell you one of their services!

Also, I have a mate who drives a 1959 Ford Prefect, who is the same age as me, and he got the same response from FJ as Karlos, "we don't insure under 25s".

May well have changed the policy conditions then...shame that...i'd do a google on 'classic car insurance' and wade thru that...there must be someone that will agree to insure him.

Aye... apparently Adrian Flux are good for young drivers. Think they do a classic policy too but would have to check to be sure.

Will be interesting to see what FJ say to me when it comes to renewal time.

Yeh langers, it was you who gave me the heads up about them. As soon as I said it's a land rover the guy said we should go for a classic policy, which he did. Then came back and said they won't do it. But after checking on their website, it doesn't state anywhere about having to be 25 years of age...

It is a bloody **** take! I might try again and ask stright away for the classic policy. They really do have a licence to print money, so I'm surprised they didn't give me a ridiculous quote!

I tried Adrian flux when I first got it and got a quote of 4k...!! Might try them again.
