you either swap complete mount and cable plus drill 2 hole or leave bracket on and swap cable from your old one to new

no disco and defender hand brake levers (in cab) are different but cable at transfer box end will fit either bracket

Buggerit, what is the part number for the seal at the gearbox side of the xfer box? tried everywhere to find the number, microcat, google and all i keep getting is the output seals.

Just checked mine on this xfer box and it's knackered so want to replace it before dropping in.

I can't get the fooker back in

It'll go in till about 2" remaining and won't go any further for some reason, tried clutch in and turned the gearbox axle slightly to no avail, removed the mount to get to wiggle abit and fooked if it'll go in.

Is it just a case of moving it till it does? ( I'm thinking engine to gb scenario) or am I missing something?

it has to be completely square to gear box .check its in difflock so you can turn drive flanges to help line splines up it will eventually but check dowels 2 only and must be 2

When I did my transfer box swap I had the input gear out of the transfer box which makes it a lot easier to do. Might be worth trying if you still have problems after wiggling your flanges like James suggests.

The input gear can be taken out easily through the access plate where the PTO would mount. When the box is mounted just pop it back in and a bit of rtv on the plate to seal it up.

3rd attempt so far and still struggling, will remove the input gear on next attempt if i have no luck this time

lrseries.com is great, but the postage thing is a bit lame to be honest. Just make sure that you tick the box for a personalised quote, and they'll get back to you with the correct postage. I had a couple of gaskets this week, and the postage ended up being about £1.30. If you're buying lots of stuff, then £6.95 is pretty good, and it might cost them more than that to send it, so it's swings and roundabouts

they seem to have every part number I've ever searched for too!

I finally got it in last night, what a nightmare it has been!

I would prefer to do engine swaps and rebuild any day of the week than do another one of these on my own.

One slight hiccup is I didn't remove the diff locking pin ( a u shape piece ) and the lever before pulling it out, fortunately I can pick up replacement bits next week.

Tonight I'm bolting the props back in ( handbrake mount & cable swapped ) and rewiring it all to the box and cross fingers she'll be ready tomorrow

Finally back together and working, took it for a quick spin today but nothing heavy as i need more oil for the xfer box. First impressions are that the gearing is longer but it'll be good to get it out on a good A road.
