I have just purchased a '04 Land Rover Discovery 2 which I totally love, the 1st problem I want to fix is the door tops which have some surface rust on. Is this a common problem and what is the best way to fix or do I need to buy new door tops.

Can somebody answer this gentleman please.

i sanded them smooth then sprayed with tin of satin black

Sand them back to bare metal use etch primer then primer then satin black and you should not have that problem again

ah yes, but you removed the whole of the top of your disco as well

It's a Land Rover mate, a bit of surface rust is the least of your problems,
