Yes guys have looked at comments,and this is driving me nuts,not long bought this freelander ,1.8 had fitted front vented discs and mintex pads,but by that time was knackered,had a garage fit parts i supplied ,new rear shoes and drums,had new brake cables to fit but they said they freeded off one of the cables.
Fine i said and drove home,never felt right ,spongy brakes ,but drove it for a week and it seemed better,till friday,on a bit of motorway heard noise from rear sounded like drum rubbing on metal,took it back to garage ,on way down the three light came on,they could not check it as they did not have the code reader,they slackened of the r/hand rear brake adjuster as they said it was binding,light went out on way home ,for about 10 minutes and they are on all the time now.nearly at my house today and tried pulling up the hand brake slowly with gear in neutral,boy oh boy nearly ended up in the fields it locked up right rear ,and swerved sharp right ,did not seem to have any braking on the rear left at all.
Need help before i go nuts ,can any body help me out.

With that sort of imbalance in braking I guess its possible that the ABS system has detected a locked up wheel and put on the warning light.

Something is not right with the brakes - did they only replace 1 brake cable and if so, is it the correct one as there are 2 different types (of different length) and this may also cause the imbalance.

If the cables are free and of the correct type and the shoes are correctly fitted, handbrake lever (on shoe) free to move and the auto adjuster rods working correctly then this shouldn't happen.

Thanks for reply on my brake problems,checked them over myself and both rear wheels are locked at about 4 notches on h/brake lever,had adjusted them just so they were binding and took both sides back 2 notches with the adjuster through rear of back plate seem ok now .
But have other problem (electrical side)?have put thread in.

Finally had time to check over some problems on the freelander,firstly about the brake cables,even though they have different part numbers,they are both the same lenths,the only difference i can see ,is the brackets on the cables are only suited for Left or Right sides as they can only go on one way so as the locking tab fits into the holes where the brackets go.
And also managed to finally try and remove my faulty rear near/side abs sensor,good job i had a few hours,as it looked as if it had been welded in.
Still the original one,i had to take drastic measures and drilled a 5/16ths hole into the top of the stub where the sensor fits and then drill right down the lenght of the sensor and try and stop before i hit the toothed gear on the drive shaft,finally managed it out and then used my dremmel drill with a round extended emery paper bit and cleaned up the hole,the copper bush you get with the new sensor was a firm push in,and used some copa slip,and will refit my rear brake shoes and try it this weekend(fingers crossed /and every thing else.
