Not me, am just a boy. not old enough to remember just trying to learn things that the old folk talk about.I don't know how old your landy is, but BMC used to fit those switches in the '70s. If I remember correctly one of them for the instrument lighting, which at one time you were allowed to switch off.
The second one was to power the two sockets shown on your picture. The sockets were used for a parking light which fitted over the driver's door window and showed a white light to the front and red to the rear and could be used instead of sidelights when the law required parked vehicles to be lit all night. It must be remembered that very few vehicles had
12v cigarette lighter sockets as they were considered a Super De-Luxe item.
Quality cars came with the parking lights factory fitted!! I don't think Landies ever did.
Having answered the question, who else is going to own up to being old enough to remember having to use those type of parking lights?
Tazz
Thinking all the way back to my first rangie, one of those switches turns the instrument lighting off, the other was for the interior lighting.
The accessory power sockets (same as a series) were permanently live! (well the red one was, the black earth one was, well earthed).
