Hi. I couldn't open the tailgate earlier today so I removed the door card and opened it from the inside. There was a screw missing from the mounting of the lock itself. I replaced the screw and tested it and it seemed fine. Been shopping now and it done it again??? Can't be the screw this time..... Any advice?

Prize out the Land Rover badge on the outside handle and squirt WD40 or similar inside and this should free up the mechanism, well it did with mine on Monday.

i take it you have central locking on the truck
try putting the key in the boot when the locks are open dont turn it if the door wont open then just move the key slightly untill you see the door pin raise the boot will then open ,
i think the problem is a worn central locking motor i have fixed this on mine by fitting a small spring just to keep the pin raised when the locks are open but not to strong as to unlock the door by itself i used the spring from a push button pen they are just strong enough to counteract the worn locking mechanism i havent had any problems with it since for a more permanant fix buy a new motor

Mine was doing the same a few months back.
badge off, Wd40 overnight and has been fine every since
(98 series one, with central locking)

Went on my last disco I just put a new latch on mine £50.

I had to replace the cams on the drivers door lock just last week. I'm going took have a good look again tommorow so I will keep you all informed.

Had similar problem, WD40 through the badge hole seemed to release it, however the only way to open it is with the key in the lock and turned to the left while lifting handle/latch.

Sounds like there is more to this than just the one thing and would welcome any suggestions.

I second that fiddly job but not to bad find every thing you need on here tis how i did mine, springs cheap of tinternet
