working on the theory that anything bolted onto the underside will act, to some degree or other, as a rust trap I'd remove as much as possible as they will probably charge by the hour for doing your car so as you've already started by clearing the worst of the clag off why not finish the job and probably save a couple of quid.
but yes, defo remove the sill trim - then leave the crappy things off, nowt but a rust trap.
Just had a look at their site, it seems that we have been thrown by just using the word "Waxoyl" and you were getting the same stuff sprayed on your disco as the DIY stuff that we can get from Halfords.
You have had the "Waxoyl Professional" cavity and hardwax treatment which is a little bit different, and product manufactured by Waxoyl.
"Waxoyl Professional" looks similar to the protection that my disco had which i'm sure all D1s did when thay left the factory although they were undersealed aswell.
Most of any waxoyl on the diffs and wheel arches and a few other places at the front of the vehicle will be washed off after a six months by the rain/spray so it will require re-applying something I do once every year.
I'm sorry... i don't quite understand your last post... you said

and then said

As far as I'm aware, I had "Waxoyl Professional" cavity and hardwax treatment, as your second statement says. This is indeed a product manufactured by Waxoyl.
Which one of your sentences needs correcting??
Also, here are some photos of the day!
Up on the jack after pressure washing!
Underside after pressure washing, before Waxoyl application.

Front of chassis after pressure washing, before Waxoyl application.
Applying cavity wax to inside of right wing.
Applying cavity wax to main chassis (hence the wax "mist" pouring out this end!).
Applying cavity wax to rear crossmember.
Applying hardwax to front of chassis.
Half way through applying hardwax to front of chassis.
First coat of hardwax almost done!
Almost completely done now.
Hopefully i'll get some better photos once it's all dried and under natural daylight!!

Shouldn't you be doing it twice a year?

Didn't they protect the tyres or anything else from overspray?
Fishsponge, I did say "thrown" ie, led to believe, so both are correct if you read the whole sentence and don't leave out half of it.![]()
They seem to do a pretty good job.
A question I have is after the high pressure steam cleaning how did they dry everything before wax coating it all? Or did they apply it over the damp metal etc? ThatÂ’s the only concern I have, as to me trapped moisture will cause corrosion will it not.
I am either going to have mine done in the spring by somebody like this or I will be doing it DIY with a few air tools as you can buy a shutz gun with cavity applicators quite cheap.
