Why not enough power? 136bhp for 2.0 vs 111bhp for Tdi. I have driven an Mpi loads of times both on and off road and I found them to be very good. The main difference is in how you drive them. If people drive it the way you drive a diesel, then it will feel sluggish. The 2.0 T series engine in the Mpi is an engine that likes to be revved. Above 3500 rpm and the engine really pulls well all the way to 6000 rpm. when off road, I have found very little difference between the Mpi and the Tdi. While the Tdi has more torque, the Mpi has a much better throttle response and it is quite a lot lighter than the Tdi I have never found the Mpi to be lacking power when off off road at all. The only time I would say there is any really big difference between the two engines is when you are towing anything over 2.5 tons. In this case the Tdi will pull away from a standstill quicker and easier than the Mpi. The 1 big disadvantage of the Mpi is it's fuel consumption. It is not much better at all than the V8, which is the engine I would choose if you can get one.
