Don't think this exists yet but i think it should. There are a number of specialist tools out there, sometimes we buy them, sometimes we can't afford to. Is it worth having a on-going thread running where people can ask for specific tools and local people can respond?

Reason for suggesting this is because i am after one of these:

To tighten a very very awkward nut. I can't afford to go out and buy a full set at present, but, could really do with borrowing one to do one job. Anyone local in the South Derbyshire / Derby area who would be as kind to lend me one would be appreciated. Even willing to drive over, use it, hand it back and leave again if you don't want to loose sight of it!

Halfords sell them individually - so it might be even cheaper than driving somewhere to get a loan of one

might sound silly but will a bent el-cheapo spanner not do the trick?

Its the drivers side nut to engine mount. There's lots of stuff in the way to get to it and very little space to actually turn a spanner (hence the ratchett end of a multi point thing would work well as you can turn it a small amount at a time)

You can't put a normal spanner on as there is things like the chassis in the way and the angle on the thread is wrong to get a socket on it as the engine gets in the way.

I've currently used two normal nuts done up as tightly as possible with fingers... so not ideal.

No you literally can't get a socket on let alone a wobble thing on it to then connect to a bar and the ratchett - the angle of the stud is basically pointing directly at the engine.

I did manage to get a socket on once, and had to lift the engine out again to get it off :doh: and even when on it was right against the engine so couldn't get anything into the hole on top

Space issues again - the angle it would come off the nut fires it right into the water pump i think (something anyway) so it would have to be about 3cm long to work...!

If you can't get on it with a normal combination spanner the ratchet wobbly head one ain't gonna help there for speed more than anything else

Mount to chassis - got the rubber thing fastened up nice and tight to the chassis and the bracket on the engine nice and tight - its just the nut which fastens down to hold the bracket to the rubber engine mount - one side is very tight... t'other is not yet.
