Good & cheap are not usually two things that go together when you're talking about something that could be potentially be lethal. I'd say spend a little extra to get something you know you can rely on.

Here's what I got the other day

Recovery strap:

PM642 Pro Comp Recovery Strap. 2in x 20foot. 20,000lb rating.

Shackles:

Bow Shackle 4.75t

The quality of the strap is so good that I actually considered hanging it up on my wall, just to look at it.

you beat me to it rich.:D;)

you were towed by a 3 series?

Yes, the clutch in my gaylander went. It's not exactly difficult for a 3 series to tow 1600kg though.

No not difficult, but using a rope rated at 2t to pull 1600kg FFS and you wondered why it snapped  .

Have a look at slings1 (must find out how to do a linky thing) on ebay (Damar webbing products ltd) Morning Tusk :D

Is that recovery strap good then from Paddocks? I snapped my old one the other day.

Only live down the road from Paddocks, so could quickly go and pick one up if it's any good before the snow sets it!
