Welcome to the wonderful world of the Range Rover version of OBD.
The software to talk to these machines is different from just about anything else on the face of the planet.
There has been talk for years of some-one coming up with a software package but the only successful one so far is for the Electronic Air Suspension only, well worth buying if you carry a laptop with you.
I spent a long time listening and reading the information on this and other forums and came to the conclusion that I either had to buy the original version on a second hand computer (hen's teeth, second mortgage etc.) or talk to Black Box Solutions.
What a surprise, I now own a Black Box Faultmate.
This is not an advert, I haven't yet had much use for it yet so can't say what it's like in a real breakdown, but I believe in preventative maintenance and I managed to clear all historical 'faults' at my first attempt.
I've also got to admit that I was influenced by the boss, BBS MAN, who posts on here and talks a lot of straight sense.

If you have an immediate need then the Faultmate is the only thing around at the moment that is in anyway affordable. And a nice piece of kit by all reports. But i has it's draw backs. It is vehicle specific for one, and cannot be used on any other vehicle unless you purchase another licence as far as i understand it. Storey Wilson in the states is developing his "All Comms" which will not be vehicle specific as far as i know, but is a way away from being available. So you have a choice to make, if your need is urgent buy the Faultmate with it's drawbacks or wait for the "All Comms" which maybe just as good but far more flexible.

You can also buy the Faultmate with a limited number of multi vehicle licensed modules instead of the kit for single vehicle for example with the DSE you can just pick the appropriate engine ecu DCU module plus the BECM, EAS etc and then licence additional modules as you need them.
Not expensive for what it is.
Single vehicle Faultmates can have up to 3 licences and I believe can be switched to mulit vehicle for the appropriate licence fee.

Yes indeed, a lot more expensive. But i did say affordable, obviously some peoples affordable is different than mine.

Okay, so I've had a look at Faultmate and I can see it getting expensive, particularly as it's Vin specific. However, if you weigh up the hassle of getting it to a dealer/specialist mechanic at gawd only knows how much per hour, I can see the advantage of being able to at least identify any faults.
Hawkeye looks good but at £350... I only wanted a chat with the P38, I wasn't thinking of getting married or anything...
I might have a chat with young Mr Wilson, see if I can ginger him along a little...

Not so sure about the Hawkeye kit though, I only know the Test Book, BBS and Autologic gear

Have you looked into the Faultmate FCR ? It's a simpler/cheaper version that allows you to read and clear faults.
