Hi all,
Just a quick one, what boost pressure should a std 300 tdi run?
Also, how much CAN it run safely???
Thanks

Oh yes ... if you over-boost it the head gasket might blow, or worse like this guy did with SEVEN BAR boost.
If you look at Pic 2 you can see the whole cylinder block has been ripped apart.

About 1.5 BAR is tops, and usually it will run about 1.1 BAR with full throttle and the revs anywhere over about 2,000 rpm.
the more AIR you can stuff in the more efficiently it runs, and the power will go up a little but only on full throttle of course.

one easy way of gaining a bit of boost is to resite the pressure take off for the wastegate, standard pressure is taken from the outlet elbow of the turbo this does not take into account any drop off of pressure within the intercooler/hoses ect, so drill and tap the inlet manifold and run that pipe to the 3 way joint(block of the original hole) - will now give the true bost pressure of the inlet manifold.
