thanks for finding that ebay link Panzer, i had looked on ebay, but for whatever reason found nothing!
as far as weight is concerned, i would have thought it would be ok on a disco at least because they have that v shaped locator above the latch, which takes the weight.
i have a rear ladder for when the roofbox is on and the door is quite sturdy
however, i was at parkwood last weekend and spotted a brigade of disco owners with the spare wheel carriers removed, a sight at which i scratched my head and wondered what i was missing out on...
the other problems are the fact that your jack gets weathered outside, and may get nicked. my disco always seems to get caked inside when we do pay n play days, so i try to carry minimal gear - but for trekking etc it could live happily inside with the rest of my gear.
it also looks cool outside, is nice and accessible, and wont get in the way.
the wizardbilt one also has a locking option, which is handy.
